National Service Scheme

The Goal of National Service Scheme or N.S.S. as it is popularly known may be listed as follows

• Service for the nation and humanity
• Personality development through social service.
• To develop the personality of its volunteer’s and imbibe in the leadership qualities.

The N.S.S. unit of St. Thomas College of Engineering & Technology has put in a lot of efforts all these years to meet these goals and has been successful to a great extent in doing the same. The N.S.S. unit of our college has the vision to work forward with the mission of forgetting and surrendering one’s self and rendering selfless service to others. The enrolment in this unit is open to all the students of the degree college irrespective of their caste , creed and religion.

Activities

Haritham. 12-05-2020

Haritham project is a "Go green initiative" during the lock down period by NSS unit of St thomas college of Engineering and Technology.

Every students have to plant a tree as a part of this activity.

 

Make your own Mask 09-04-2020

Make your Mask is a challenge by NSS unit of St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Students and Staff Members are actively participated in this event.

Seminar by Health Department 27-02-2020

St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, In association with Maloor health center conducted a

seminar on the topic "climatic changes and health issues " on 28th February 2020.

Stem Cell Donation Camp 07-02-2020

St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, NSS Unit 512 in association with DATRI- Stem Cell Donor Registry conducted a Stem Cell Donation Camp on 07th February 2020.

More than hundred samples were collected during the camp. NSS volunteers actively participated in this event.

NSS Seven Day Camp 09-09-2019

St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, NSS Unit Conducted NSS Seven Day Camp at St Joseph High School Thundiyil, From 09th September 2019 to 15th September 2019.

Volunteers actively participated in Peravoor Thaluk Hospital renovation activities and Muzhakkunnu Health Center renovation activities.

 

RENOVATION OF BSNL TELEPHONE PILLERS 09-02-2019

NSS unit of St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology has renovated telephone pillers of BSNL Panoor. The volunteers cleaned and painted the pillers for preventing corrossion.

SANSAD ADARSH GRAM YOJANA 30-01-2018

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) is a village development project launched by Government of India in October 2014, under which each Member of Parliament will take the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure in three villages by 2019. In connection with the implementation of SAGY, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has identified potential institutes in each district of the country and has decided to link AICTE approved institutions with villages adopted by Honourable Member of Parliaments for its sustainable development. As part of this our institute is attached to Kolayad Panchayat which was adopted by Honorable Rajyasabha MP Sri. KK Ragesh.

A development seminar was conducted at Kolayad Panchayat Office on 30/01/2018. The seminar was presided by Sri. Suresh Kumar KP (Kolayad Panchayat President) and inaugurated by Honourable Rajyasabha MP Sri. KK Ragesh.

PUNARJJANI 2017 06-09-2017

As part of Punarjjani 2017 NSS unit of St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology has recreated an asset of worth Rs 5950200 at Kuthuparamba Taluk Hospital. The camp was inaugurated by Smt. K K Shailaja Teacher Honourable minister for health and social justice on 5th September 2017. The programme was precided by Sri. M Sukumaran, Chairman Kuthuparamba Municipality.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 21-06-2017

International Yoga Day was celebrated in college campus on 21st June. It was inaugurated by MR.Anandhan Veliyambra and he has made a talk on "Importance of Yoga in Modern Life".

PUNARJANI 11-03-2017 As a part of Punarjani project NSS volunteers have visited Peravoor Taluk Hospital and they did many maintenance works in hospital such as repairing of hospital equipment, plumbing, wiring and revamping of coats and wheel chair.
International Womens Day 08-03-2017 International women’s day was celebrated in the campus on 8 th march. It was inaugurated by Adv. Smitha C and she made a talk on women’s safety and laws related to women. A rally was conducted as part of women’s day from Nelluni to Mattannur.
NSS Special Camp 27-12-2016 NSS seven day special camp was conducted between 27th December 2016 and 2nd January 2017. The camp was inaugurated by Sri. Urumani Manoj (Education Standing Committee Chairman, Maloor Panchayath). The camp validatory function was inaugurated by Sri. Bhaskaran K (Chairman, Mattannur Municipality).
Blood Donation Camp 06-10-2016 As the part of national blood donation day (October 1) and “Manaviyam-16” our St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology had conducted blood donation camp on October 6 th 2016. The camp was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar (CI, Peravoor). Dr. Shahida KV (Head of blood bank, Kannur) has made a talk on “Importance of blood donation.”
FUNDRAISE 31-08-2016 NSS has collected an amount of 25000 for a kidney failure patient and handed over the amount to Kairali charitable trust
Swachh Bharat Pakhwada 15-08-2016 As a part of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada NSS volunteers visited Sivapuram LP School and cleaned school premises. They have also helped the authorities to form a garden in the campus.
yoga day 21-06-2016 Yoga day was celebrated in college campus on 21st June. It was inaugurated by acting Principal Prof. Roy Thomas, he demonstrated some asanas to the staff and students. Also some important scientific aspects of yoga and meditation were discussed.
N DART 01-04-2016 Five students from St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Kannur attended three day N DART workshop at Thrissur.
Anti Liqure and Anti drug students Club 30-03-2016 St Thomas College of Engineering & Technology in association with excise division, Mattanur formed an anti liquor and anti drug students club. It was inaugurated by Shri Vijesh A K, excise inspector of Mattanur.
