Description

Stretchers and Wheelchairs are the most commonly used mobility aids for the movement of patients. Transferring the patients from wheelchair to stretcher or to the medical bed or vice versa is always an complex job .This project is on the design and implementation of wheel chair cum stretcher for carrying the physically disabled persons in easier way . The wheel chair cum bed is a mechanism which is used for moving bed up and down . Two way switches is used to control the motion of wheel chair. The Battery used to drive the D.C motors . The up and down movement of the wheel chair is done by lead screw mechanism. This arrangement is fixed in the wheel chair bed. The power supply to the motor is given by battery. In this design a patient or care taker can easily operate the system using joystick . joystick can be placed at hand rest or handle for caretaker .An ultrasonic sensor is provided for detection of obstacles and stops motion of wheels if wheelchair approaching to obstacles or walls
