Description

As there is an increase in number of rape and harassment cases against women in
public, we plan to design a safety mechanism through our project “Raksha”. The
proposed design will deal with critical issues faced by women in the recent past and will
help solve them through technology.
In most of the existing devices the alerts are transferred only to the respective
guardians or emergency numbers. What we are thinking to design is a smart safety
device based on IoT(Internet of Things) which helps in not only sending alert signals to
the guardians but also women help lines , local police stations and to the contacts to
which our device is synced. The device is so small so that it is easy to handle. It can be
used by hanging in ornaments like chains, bracelets, earrings, bangles etc. It can also
be hung on our clothes.
The device can send help request through text messages along with the current location
of the victim. It continuously communicates with Smart phone that has access to the
internet.
It also emits a sound which helps users stay safe by emitting a piercing, loud sound to
confuse and distract attackers. At that time the victim can take their necessary
precautions.
These wearable products prove especially useful because they can often fit into a
woman’s outfit. These products prove that personal safety can benefit from technology
when they come together in innovative ways.
