Description

The increasing generation of food waste in residential areas presents significant environmental and disposal challenges. This project focuses on the design and development of a portable biogas plant aimed at efficient residential food waste management. The proposed biogas plant is compact. cost-effective, and easy to install, offering an eco-friendly solution for organic waste disposal while simultaneously generating biogas for household use.The system integrates key components such as a digester, biogas storage, and a filtration unit,
all housed in a modular. portable design. It utilizes anaerobic digestion, where food waste is broken down by microorganisms to produce biogas, primarily methane. This biogas can be used for cooking or heating, reducing reliance on conventional energy sources. The plant also includes a nutrient-rich slurry by-product, which can be used as organic fertilizer for household gardens. promoting a circular economy.
The design incorporates simple operation and maintenance procedures, making it accessible for non-expert users. Safety features including pressure relief valves and gas monitoring sensors, ensure reliable performance. The compact size of the plant allows for easy relocation, ideal for households with limited space or those looking for a sustainable, low-maintenance waste management solution.
Through this innovation, the project aims to contribute to waste reduction, energy sustainability, and environmental conservation, offering a practical solution for homes to manage food waste, reduce landfill burden, and create renewable energy in the process.
