Description
This project focuses on the planning, analysis, and design of a new school block at Mattannur
Higher Secondary School. The main objective of the project is to develop a safe, functional, and
sustainable educational building by applying fundamental civil engineering principles. The work
begins with a detailed site survey to understand the existing conditions, including soil properties,
topography, and availability of resources. Based on this, an efficient floor plan is prepared,
ensuring proper classroom arrangement, ventilation, lighting, and circulation as per building
regulations. The project also includes the calculation of various loads acting on the structure,
such as dead load, live load, wind load, and seismic load, in accordance with Indian Standard
codes. These loads are considered carefully to ensure the safety and stability of the building under
different conditions. Structural analysis is carried out using advanced software tools like
AutoCAD for drafting, Revit for 3D modelling, and ETABS for structural analysis and design
.Key structural components such as slabs, beams, columns, and foundations are designed using
the Limit State Method to achieve adequate strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Proper
attention is given to material selection and design standards to ensure long-term performance of
the structure. Overall, this project demonstrates the practical application of civil engineering
concepts in real-world construction. It results in a well-planned, structurally sound, and
sustainable school building that enhances infrastructure and provides a better learning
environment for students.
