A Firewall consists of software which control the network traffic
and also of hardware components like the arrangement of routers,
work stations and so on.
We are planning to build an open source proxy firewall, which act
as an intermediary between in-house clients and server on the
internet. The firewall monitors the incoming traffic it helps in
improving security. For every client a username and password is
allocated, only by using these they can access the internet. It also
helps to measure the amount of data used by each client. The
main function of firewall is to protect the network. By using
firewall it is possible to restrict certain sites like Facebook from
the client. By monitoring the network it is possible to access the
search history of each user.
