Description

The purpose of pavement is to carry traffic safety continently an economically of its life period. The pavement must be smooth riding quality and adequate to resistance against skidding and have adequate thickness to resist against wheel load and should be durable and serviceable to drivers. Pavement is mainly classified as two flexible pavement and rigid pavement. Considering the efficiency of transmitting the wheel load, maintenance cost and service cost and period of life cycle of the rigid pavement in more efficient compared to that of flexible pavement, but in considering the initial cost is double to that of flexible pavements hence rigid pavements are rarely adopted and flexible pavement is used as traditional or general method adopted for highway pavements. In the project report, an attempt is made to design a road at Kudukkimotta, based on the principle of pavement design and the waste plastic is shredded and coated over demolition waste. On the existing alignment of the road, soil sample are collected for the determination of soil characteristics like consistency limits, sieve analysis, proctor test, C.B.R values etc.., Based on this the thickness of the pavement (flexible) is designed and estimation of project is prepared.
