Description

The future of electric vehicles lies on its reliability upon the performance of present day automobiles. The efficient management of battery power is the key to increase the overall performance of electric vehicles. Currently only single speed reducers and motor controllers are used in electric vehicles. Addition of a multi-speed transmission system can be advantageous, but only if it is designed specifically for an electric vehicle. As conventional transmissions are designed for IC engines, they disengage the engine power while shifting gears using a clutch. But that is not the case with electric motors, they have inbuilt high starting torque which can easily be varied electronically along the drive as well. But the problem is that it would cost us with more battery power consumption. So the idea here is to provide adequate torque without using much battery power. That is, with the use of a multi gear transmission system and thereby increasing the range of electric vehicles
